The Indian beverage industry is booming – and so is drink technology India
Economic growth and social change on the Indian subcontinent are causing the beverage, dairy and liquid food industry to boom. Euromonitor International forecasts all beverage sectors will grow at double-digit rates in the next four years, which drink technology India (dti) will also benefit from.
In many ways the Indian markets for soft drinks and alcoholic beverages, such as beer, wine and spirits, are developing extremely well. For example, the industry anticipates an increase of 37 percent for alcoholic beverages by 2021, and, according to Euromonitor International, soft drinks will grow by more than 100 percent by 2020.

drink technology India , the trade fair for the beverage, dairy and liquid food industries in India, has grown rapidly and will now be held yearly. Taking place in New Delhi for the first time, it was almost fully booked three months before opening day, October 26, 2017. The decision by dti to stage it every year – alternating between the venues of New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore – is proving to be absolutely right. Another sure sign of development is the new addition of edible oils to dti’s portfolio. This segment of the industry is set to expand even further in the Indian market, too: In its July report, Euromonitor International forecasted that consumption of edible oils in India will rise by up to 72 percent by 2021.
Unbridled industry demand enables addition of extra hall
In the wake of the Indian beverage market’s incredible expansion, producers, suppliers and service providers from all segments of the industry are seizing the opportunity to further establish themselves. Numerous prestigious companies, such as ACE Technologies, Anton Paar, Chemco Group, Krome Dispense, Repute Engineers, RJ Brewing and The Brewmaster, have secured their places at dti 2017.
And the number is growing: While originally there was only one hall planned for dti 2017, its fine reputation and the industry’s flourishing have led to the addition of an extra hall. As a result, dti won the Exhibition Excellence Award 2017 for the fastest-growing event in India.
dti to be held yearly in response to massive popularity
The fair’s remarkable success has led its organizers to decide to stage it every year. As well, dti will now be held at different venues: in Mumbai every two years and alternately in New Delhi and Bangalore in the years in between. Markus Kosak, the project manager of dti, explains why: “By alternating between New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore, dti will now be represented in the north, south and west of India. That means we’ll offer our customers permanent visibility throughout India and enable the industry to directly address individual sectors in the respective regions.”
Respect and admiration – also among public authorities and associations
When drink technology India 2017 opens its doors on October 26, visitors can expect an excellently organized event and a full house, just like the previous year, though there are some other new additions. For the first time, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) will be a supporter of dti. Also, the presence of renowned associations – including VDMA India, the All India Distillers’ Association (AIDA), the All India Wine Producers Association (AIWPA) and Uttar Pradesh Distillers’ Association (UPDA) – has helped the event expand and evolve so quickly.
The next dates for dti
The next events in India have already been scheduled: dti will welcome visitors at the Bombay Exhibition & Convention Centre in Mumbai from October 24 to 26, 2018, and will open its doors at the Bangalore Exhibition Centre in Bangalore for the first time from October 17 to 19, 2019.
