Flotation plants: The magic solution for treating wastewater
Sossna’s Diary – what´s that you ask? Well the clue’s in the name: Roland Sossna, editor of the trade journals Molkerei-Industrie and IDM International Dairy Magazine, writes here about his experiences in the milk sector. Every four weeks he tells it as it is. If you ever wanted to know what’s really happening behind the scenes in the milk sector, ad Sossna’s Diary!
Hello, it’s me again! This time I’m checking in from one of my reporting assignments. In the past I really have researched just about everything imaginable, from new construction of complete dairies and implementing business software to optimized workflows for cleaning processing facilities and plenty of other exotic sounding things. But not even I have ever come into contact with a flotation plant for separating fat out of dairy wastewater.
This story took me Rückholz in the heart of the Allgäu and the local dairy processing plant, which has installed a magical plant of this type to treat its wastewater. Exactly how it works and what the background was for the investment are things that I will cover soon in “molkerei-industrie” and/or IDM. But this much today: This flotation plant is saving the dairy hard cash, and it will for a long time. I hope that my reporting encourages readers as it has so often in the past to implement solutions of their own and that, soon, flotation plants will be shooting up out of the ground like mushrooms! After all, if readers can take something from my trade journals and use it for their own good, then the 1,400-kilometer drive from Münsterland to the Allgäu and back was definitely worthwhile.
Best regards
Roland Sossna
